Welcome to the W~D~M~R Family DNA
Project
Our Goal
-
Create a historical record for our descendents.
-
Determine if two people are related.
-
Determine if two people descend from the same
ancestor.
-
Find out if you are related to others with the same
surname (or variation of the surname).
-
Prove or disprove your family tree research.
-
Solve "brick walls" in your research.
-
Provide clues about your ethnic origin.
We can achieve this through Y-chromosome DNA
testing. Males who share a recent paternal ancestor have similar
Y-chromosome DNA. By looking at values at specific DNA marker
locations, we can tell how closely related we are to each
other.

does the testing for the W~D~M~R Family DNA Project.
The company provides a home test for swabbing a sample from the
inside of the cheek. Results take about six weeks to come back.
Prices start at US$99 for a basic test. SMGF
does free testing, but
results take up to 2 years to come back.
This DNA
Project may help to answer these questions:
Find out if those with various spellings of the
W~D~M~R name are related.
Find location and earliest date of the W~D~M~R name.
Validate existing research.
Are all the lines related or are there many different family
lines?
Can connections be made between the lines in United States,
Germany, Scandinavia, Canada, South America, Australia and Switzerland?
